Connective Payments breidt uit met Karin Kleerebezem als Associate Partner, Payment Contracts Policies & Legal Advice

Karin Kleerebezem treedt toe tot Connective Payments als Associate Partner Payment Contracts, Policies & Legal Advice. Karin brengt unieke ervaring en competenties mee vanuit haar werk als juriste met specialisatie betaaldienstverlening. Daarmee bevindt haar kennis zich op het snijvlak van ICT-recht en financiële regelgeving en verenigt zo de juridische invalshoeken op technologie (Intellectuele Eigendom, SaaS, licenties, service levels, commerciële samenwerkingsvormen), toezichtregelgeving alsmede de aspecten van e-commerce en de nieuwe privacy regels: GDPR.

Na een dienstverband van bijna 10 jaar bij een van de eerste succesvolle Nederlandse payment service providers, Bibit/RBS WorldPay (nu WorldPay), heeft zij vanuit haar rol als zelfstandig juriste sinds 2011 opdrachten uitgevoerd voor klanten op verschillende plaatsen in de waardeketen van het betalingsverkeer. Diverse vrijgestelde en vergunninghoudende betaalinstellingen, elektronisch geldinstellingen, giftcard issuers, betaalterminal leveranciers, technisch payment service providers en merchants rekent zij tot haar klantenkring. Zij realiseerde voor haar klanten de raamwerken voor hun commerciële (standaard) contracten, onderhandelde over high value (merchant-) overeenkomsten, stelde compliance documentatie op (policy frameworks), begeleidde licentieaanvragen en behandelde diverse algemeen juridische vraagstukken.

Binnen Connective Payments zal zij bijdragen aan de projecten gericht op waarde creatie en zal zij de vertaalslag maken naar voorwaarden en contracten. Ook in het proces van vendor/partner selectie zal Karin het juridische werk voor haar rekening nemen.

Karin Kleerebezem joins Connective Payments in the role of Associate Partner Payment Contracts, Policies & Legal Advice. With Karin on board, Connective Payments’ expertise now includes the unique experience and competencies of a payments lawyer. Positioned on the intersection between ICT-law and financial legislation her knowledge unites the legal aspects of technology (Intellectual Property, SaaS, EULAs, service levels, forms of commercial cooperation) and the financial supervision directives such as  EMD2, AML-CTF, including e-commerce and privacy: GDPR.

After an employment of nearly 10 years at Bibit/RBS WorldPay (now: WorldPay), one of the Netherlands’ first and successful payment service providers, she has provided her services as an autonomous legal counsel since 2011 for a range of clients all playing different roles in the payments value chain. Amongst them are exempt and licensed payment institutions, electronic money institutions, gift card issuers, terminal suppliers, technical payment service providers and merchants. For her clients she realised frameworks for commercial contracts and terms and conditions, she helped them obtaining and keeping up with the requirements to maintain PI-licenses and advised on generic legal issues, which in payments always tend to require an extra-ordinary approach or outcome.

Cooperating with Connective Payments she shall be involved and account for the legal aspects of the projects we work on, varying between product development,  vendor/ partner selection processes and so on.
